Effendy is a partner with the Litigation Practice of Zaid Ibrahim & Co. He has advised and acted as counsel in a wide range of commercial and corporate disputes. His advisory profile ranges from contractual claims, corporate compliance, shareholders disputes, breach of directors’ duties, regulatory investigations and receivership to various matters relating to corporate insolvency. Effendy was also the lead counsel in obtaining the relevant court orders for a number of restructuring exercises and mergers of major public listed companies and financial institutions in Malaysia.
Corporate rescues, reconstructions and insolvency remain his focus of interest. He is also passionate in legal training and currently sits on the Trainee Associate Committee of Zaid Ibrahim & Co which oversees the training and education continuum of the firm’s trainee associates.
Effendy is a fellow of the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust and member of the Disciplinary Committee Panel of the Malaysian Advocates and Solicitors Disciplinary Board.
Effendy was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1995 and was made a partner of the firm in 2003.
