Lorybeth’s practice focuses on tax, technology, specifically data privacy and FinTech, and special projects for various industries. Among these industries, she focuses on the following: manufacturing, banking, technology and energy.
As a Tax Advisor, she has advised multinational clients on cross-border tax planning and restructuring initiatives, maximizing use of tax treaties and trade agreements, contract review, tax-efficient set up of local business entities, transfer pricing, expatriate taxation, impact of direct and indirect taxes on various business transactions and industries. She is also a member of the Tax Management Association of the Philippines.
As a Technology and FinTech Advisor, she advises clients on matters such as contract review and negotiations of FinTech partnerships, social media policies, digital platforms and products from perspectives of doing business / foreign investments, banking, tax and ICT regulations. She is also a member of the FinTech Association of the Philippines.
As an external advisor and speaker for Data Privacy, she has advised multi-nationals on compliance with Philippine privacy laws – from registration to structuring and drafting of data sharing and data processing arrangements, as well as incident response and notification protocols. She is also a member of the International Association of Privacy Practitioners.
Previously, Lorybeth served as an associate of the Tax Practice Group at Quisumbing Torres and Customs and International Trade Group of Sycip Gorres & Velayo – Ernst & Young. She also served as the Tax Head of a Filipino multinational food company and Tax Operations Manager of a multinational oil and gas corporation while freelancing as Tax and Corporate Of-counsel Consultant in several small law firms. She is also a certified public accountant and a former business development and finance professional.
